I doubt that many refs deliberately get things wrong, but they are often in the wrong position to see incidents or they are just not good enough in interpreting the rules.
Personalities can also influence decisions, from the ‘I’ll show them who is the boss’ to the ‘I am scared of Sir Fergie Nose’.
Technology, such as in rugby, cricket, NFL etc must be the way forward — but not while Septic Bladder is in charge, unfortunately!
