There was a lot in the game to be pleased with, the control of possession, the pressing, the creativity and even, dare I say it – the defending.

Sczcesny had another solid game, with a drama save or two thrown in for good measure. The back four played extremely well and Song did a great job in keeping Wooney quiet.

Whilst I revel in beating the Mancs, it irks me that we have been unable to hold on a lead to poorer teams like Liverpool, The Totteringham arses and harking back further to the daft result at Newcastle.

In the Prem every point counts and giving away needless points is foolhardy at best. It leaves us where we are now. Hoping for a result. I’ve been looking at the table and I don’t know how I want the Chelski-ManYoo game to go, a draw wouldn’t help either way, in terms of the title challenge for all three of us it would be interesting if Chelski won, leaving them and ManYoo on 73 points and then hopefully us on 70 points if we get a result at Stoke before their game.

That leaves us in touching distance of the leaders, there are tricky games left to play and we need to keep winning our games and let Chelski and ManYoo decide where we end up. This is no time for players to shirk their responsibilities. This is a results business and we need wins from our remaining fixtures against Stoke, Villa and Fulham.

I think we have a chance of sneaking 2nd place if results go our way. Sad that we have to hope like this really.
