Marouane Chamakh, forgotten Brylcreem star of the 2010-2011 season began that season with verve and confidence. He came from a successful Bordeaux side, with the full confidence of his manager and love of the fans to Arsenal where expectation was high after some great performances in the Champions League against Juventus and Bayern Munich.
In his early season exploits for Arsenal he did well, amassing 9 goals in all competitions before RvP returned to fitness and pushed him out of the side. In brief, fleeting substitute appearances over the winter months he had a barren period where he stated that he expected to be behind RvP in the pecking order and by February was exhausted and said that he needed a rest

Henry – 9 games to score.
Bergkamp – 7 games to score.

Best comment EVER! proper goooners don’t writeoff someone after a few starts. Come on people support the badge because at the end of the day that’s what we love The Arsenal. Period!
Totally agree with you.

Hi,
Thank you very much
WG
I think it is unfair to prejudge Oliver Giroud, give him time and all I can say is look how long it took it Torres to settle in at Chelsea. So come on “The Arsenal fans…fair is fair. Lets all look forward to a great season and get behind the team. Mick
so arsene, drop gervinho off the starting line up…let giroud play more…gervinho at times can be our saviour but he tends to make easy mistakes during the games…also, he always clueless when he’s dribbling…can’t make quick brilliant decisions and passing, causing the opponents manage to went back to their positions when being attack..
Personally I like Gervinho in the starting line up. His confidence is making him a good player at the moment. However, I would play him on the Wing and not as a centre-forward.

I`ve been known in some circles (and columns) to demand the arrival of a top class striker . No one can deny the fact that we would have been better with some Falcao setting opponent`s box on fire . But I do like Giroud and I totally agree that he should be the one getting the 90 mins up front every game . He will never make an impact as a 15 mins sub when we`re chasing a deficit . And Gervinho is a waste in that position . Seeing that we`ve spent 12million quid on the dude and we`re not looking to purchase anyone else , Arsene should play start him in every match and build his confidence for the rest of the season . By the way , Henri took 9 matches to score when he was a 21 year old kid . Giroud is 26 .
I totally agree with you guys about Gervinho being a waste of talent upfront. i still wonder why Wenger does that when we have natural centre forwards like Poldolsky, Giroud or even Chamakh…..I will even prefer to see Walcott as a centre foreward than Gervinho.
A lot of good comments. Some harsh ones.
How much match time has OG seen? Darn little. How many full matches? Almost none. Of DB’s and Henry’s games, how many of those were complete matches? (I honestly don’t remember.)
OG has bags of talent. A nose for goal. He’s fearless.
Give the man a chance for fuck’s sake.
AW has the manager’s dream scenario now: too many talented players and too few spots. And all this talk about “world class” this or that. Lookit Chelsea’s Brazilian oscar: anonymous the whole game and a petulant yellow. For 30 million??? Ha, they can keep him. Give me OG, Gervinho, old Poldi working their socks off. We’re getting there … we’re getting there.
I think there’s no problem with strikers in Arsenal….I think there’s problem with Ramsey, don’t know why the H..L he is playing like right winger I don’t know why he is playing at all!!??!!??He wasted so many balls last season, same thing this season as well…..everytime he’s on field,I say Arsenal is playing like 10 men squad!!!!
Hi,
Although I agree with your sentiments about the strikers. I can’t agree about Rambo. I think he has played well when he’s on.
WG
I also agreed with Uzo!
totally crrect. it never ceases to amaze me how we arsenal fans tear down the club and her players whcihc i rarely see from other clubs’ fans. lets get bhind the club and players encouraging them all the way. Olivier Giroud should be made to start matches, play Gervinho/Walcot combination/substitution. this will allow OG grow in confidence… I hope AW is listening… but of course, he knows best…. Go Gunners!!
I knew he is total waste of money before we even sign. French players are no more. See the national team struggles. Why we didn’t sign lorente. We clearly need more Spanians. Even in Arsenal our top players are coming from Spain. Giroud is the new Chamak
@boyan hahaha u funny, I want you all to look at it in this direction, we are not at training ground when the team train, now we can’t know who is actually fit to a particular position. The team is not doing too bad, when you keep talking about Chamak and Giroud, to me i will tell u Bentner is a very good striker, but he never get his chance, Walcott scores lot of goal in training but on the field he doesn’t fine the net easily. Gervinho and Ramsy was a waste to Arsenal team last season, but i think there are doing great this season so far, Arsenal have more than Eleven players every one can not be on the field at once, if you want to start counting Player that deserve a chance you talk about.. Santos, Emanuel Fripong, Arshavin, Miyanchi. Let just wait and watch what it will be like for the team this season, no doubt Giroud is a very good player, but no one want to wait for games before result. we need result, we give RVP a chance, and when he get on top of his game that we need him most, he decide to leave. what an ingrate, same to Fabrigas too and now Walcott is doing the same thing. Some times i don’t blame AW for his selection, Let Walcott be on the bench and let pare Alex Chamberlain, Cazolar and Arteta in the middle field and let Gerviho and Lucas P play in the wing and Giroud play top front. I don’t think their is lot on competition yet, until Rosick and Wiltshire are full back in the team, then you see lot of complaineam of who is going to make the first t……
