Bouncebackability vs Schalke
on October 24, 2012 at 8:05 amArsenal have attracted a lot of criticism following the Norwich game. Their attitude, the mistakes and even their travel arrangements have invited scorn from the Blogosphere and media crockpot. I have no desire to relive the match again, nor to assess their attitude. Tonight is where we fight. Tonight, we dine in hell. (I

Hi WG
First of all, thank you very much for the kind reference at the end of your blog today. I wanted to get in touch with you for a few weeks, but starting up the blog and writing a post every day has taken up more or less all my time (I am sure you know all about that!!). I have added Wigan Gooner to the blogrole and will reciprocate the reference later today!
You are spot on re needing to be at our best tonight, and I am worried that a combination of fatigue/carrying knocks of some key players, weakened bench at the moment, and a dent in our confidence could cost us tonight. Hopefully our vast CL experience, and taking one of the early chances will see us through. If we have a good start, I reckon we’ll win the game.
Hi WG,
Delighted to see you back and with such a strong Post.
I love your writing style, as you know, it’s like being down the Pub with a knowledgeable mate.
After I got your email I tried to get onto WiganGooner but could not do so. It has taken me until today to realize it was my over sensitive security system!!
All well now.
Back to the game tonight. I am a tad concerned that a reaction to that disappointing Norwich performance is for our guys to go all gungho and leave themselves open at the back.
Patience is the key in Europe. Anyway, fingers crossed!!
Hi RA,
Thank you, as always your praise humbles me. There should be a load of posts since you last visited, including me getting published on Arsenal.Com and being invited to write direct for Arsenal
Totally agree with you about the game tonight, its massive. It is a huge game and we need to get a result.
WG
WG,
I did actually see your excellent Arsenal.com item, and thought at first it must be a mistake!! But it had your (real) name up there too !!
Just shows I can tell a good un when I see one!!
You must be very proud, I know I was for you!!
Now I can access your site again, I will pop in to chat like I used to.
Excellent write-up as always Wiggy.
Have no fear! We will put in a performance tonight and you will see a very different team from the one at Norwich, even if our personnel are identical.
In fact I feel a bit sorry for Schalke. They are clearly a team full of talented players, but tonight they’re going down by at least 2 goals, more like 3
Redders
Even though you raise a very good potential banana skin (the possibility of us being so gung ho that we leave ourselves exposed at the back), my optimism for tonight remains undaunted.
I expect Mert to play a very important role tonight.
A few people seemed to have it in for Santos after the Norwich game, which I thought was a bit harsh, although I would like to see him stay wider tonight.
You old romantic, Rocky,
I would be happy with a scruffy own goal off the keepers ass!!
Santos is OK Rock man.
He had hardly played prior to the Norwich game and it takes a while to adjust to the pace and the discipline.
I like him for his exquisite skill, but I also think he is more of an attacking midfield player
I like Santos too. I think he has what it takes to be a good player for us.

I meant to say, congratulations on being asked to write for Arsenal.com. As they say on the Alan Davies podcast, does this now make you a “company man” and should we be sifting your posts for spin and propaganda
Lol thanks
no I’m not a company man. I’ve been really lucky that Arsenal seem to like my stuff and asked me to contribute.

Rocky,
