  1. Great report as always Wiggy.

Your point about a DM is well taken.

I love Arteta (and he had a great game last night) but if we had a Gilberto type, we could use any two of four out of Santi/Jack/Arteta/Rosicky for the two more advanced MF positions without any drop-off in quality.

I have not included Abou in the list because, sadly, I think he’s done 🙁 .

    1. Rocky, you are far too kind!

Me too, I think Arteta is a great player, calm, composed and a great creative edge but I think he is stifled by being asked to sit so deep and defend.

I hope Frimpong returns from Charlton on New Years day and gets a shot at the first team. He loves the club, he loves a tackle and he doesn’t ever give up.

I want him in the shirt. I don’t want to let him go because I have seen enough of him to convince me he has a great future in the game. I was talking today to a friend of mine and they really rate him too (they’re a Liverpool fan) and think (as I do) that with a bit of maturity he will be a real boon to Arsenal.

With regards to Abou, there is always a chance that his fitness woes will sort themselves out, but with each injury it becomes less likely that he will ever reach his potential. Which is a massive shame, because his ability isn’t in question.

  2. ARSENAL WON BECAUSE RAMSEY WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE STARTING LINE UP. ANYTIME RAMSEY PLAYS, I TURN OFF THE TV BECAUSE I KNOW ARSENAL WILL LOSE THE GAME OR AT MOST DRAW. YOU CAN SEE WHEN HE CAME IN DURING THE SECOND HALF, OUR PLAY SLACKENED A LITTLE BIT. HE IS ALWAYS PASSING BACKWARDS, NOT FORWARD. THE STARTING LINE UP AT READING WAS FANTASTIC. WALCOTT SHOULD PLAY IN THE MIDDLE.

    1. Hi Leonard, thanks for commenting.

I don’t think it can ever be as cut and dried as that. Rambo is a talented footballer whose development has stalled since his injury. His potential is there for all to see however and I for one am hoping he starts showing it. It isn’t only him on the pitch and it is naive to think that one player can influence results in that manner.

However, we are all human, all think different things and the world would be really boring if we all agreed.

Thank you for commenting, and come back anytime.

  3. Well comment Rocky, but i honestly still have faith in abou to return and reach his potential,i am taking the inspiration from Rvp,who thought he will reach his potential, finally he has and that was patience from arsene, and so i am looking forward towards abou,he is still young,25 or 26 years, has alot of years to go and i still fancy him being up there to reach his potentially sooner than late…I still feel for Rambo, his potential is there for all to see,i really feel he has drop since his injury and it is the matter of time he rediscover his form,he is still not bad in games he has players,he always try his best and for me,i still rate him high for arsenal future because he will be one of our key in 2 or 3 years to come bet me on that…We just have a great future in this team..And regardless of Reading being the team we beat,i dont care,at our best,we can beat any team regardless of who the team is,i know of that and we have that years after years, but is all about the consistent that is why beating reading didn’t seems anything big to go by because we are not really doing well recently, though i was hurt by the knock out from the capital one cup,i was more hurt because it was the first team which players,if it was the same squad who played against reading in the capital cup,i will have understand, but it was more painful that it was a first team squad who can beat any team at their best..But was understanding that we did all we could but nothing was going good for us,we could have beat Bradford 7 nil on another day and i want to face them in the FA CUP so that we will show the world, that it was a fluke to loose against them..Anyway,was a good win on Monday and looking forward to Saturday..

    1. Agree with you.Abou is a talented and skillful footballer in that position.Hopefully, Arsenal can play 3-5-2 against Wigan this time.

      1. well,we have won though we didnt play that formation but i was happy with our win,it was more of a determination to continue the revival of a winning mentality than the dormination whih we did..

  4. Interesting read, aswell as comments. Abou for me is a class act, he showed this in the few games at the start of the season, it’s just unfortunate he picks up so many injuries.

Ramsey has talent, people can slate him as much as they like and i’ll still point out the two most successfull managers in the EPL both courted him. You dont get that if you’re shite. The issue with him is confidence, he lacks it but also he tries too hard. He over thinks things as opposed to just sticking to thebasics and getting it right. Do we really need the flashy aimless flicks? He’ll come good in time, but only once he realises it’s going to take time.

The 3-5-2 is interesting though i dont see AW dropping fullbacks and they’re an integral part of our attacking play. And with that, Per’s to slow (great at reading a game but i’ve seel milk turn quicker), TV5’s reckless more often than i’d like and our most improved central defenders lacking games.

Either way monday night was awesome, i wont get too carried away as we’ve been here before. Theo looked good but Reading made it easier, seeing how he goes against better drilled defences will be the key and Jacks looking to be getting back to his best.

See whats happening in Jan, and hopefully we can kick on a bit from here and finish strongly in the second half of the season.

  5. Salia
I so hope you are right about Abou.
I just get the feeling that his injuries are more substantial that van Persie’s. Even Arsene said that this was a make-or-break season for Diaby.
He showed against Liverpool earlier this season what a brilliant player he can be.

    Abe (and Salia)
Agree with you both about Rambo. AW has just handed him a five year extension and that tells you something. Leonard – I think you’re being way too harsh on him. He has repeatedly been played as a wide midfielder, but that’s not a position that suits him (even though he did a good job there in several games this year, including away at Man City).

  6. I think Ramsey’s playing style is pretty similar to Santi Carzola actually. He has no Theo’s pace but is tchnically good , so I would like to see him playing more in the middle like Santi.Definitely , he can show his quality in front of many opponent’s defenders .
