When you can ship three goals with such alarming ease the first temptation in righting the wrong is to shut down. It’s what anyone would do. Stop the pain, stop the rot and limit the damage.

That’s not The Arsenal Way.


Unlike Derby, who cited “The Derby Way” when sacking┬áPaul Clement, “The Arsenal Way is actually a thing. “The Derby Way” is an excuse to sack someone who was performing within the boundaries of a role, who performed well against the expectations set at the start of the season but became unpopular after a string of poor results. “The Arsenal Way” is the ability to cock-up any given situation, however positive that situation might be.
